Star Wars 7 To Film In Abu Dhabi

As well as filming at Pinewood Studios in London (which all UK Star Wars fans are ecstatic about, sources have said that Star Wars 7 will shoot the Tatooine scenes in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.

In the original trilogy, the film makers used Tunisia to for scenes set on Tatooine, the desert home planet of Luke and Anakin Skywalker; but the political situation in Tunisia today has been described as too dangerous and unstable to accommodate a major Hollywood film production.

J.J. Abrams and the rest of the crew will head out to Abu Dhabi next month.

Star Wars 7 is not the first high profile Hollywood film to choose Abu Dabi as a location recently. Fast & Furious 7, which recently resumed production after being indefinitely postponed in the wake of the death of star, Paul Walker, also used Abu Dhabi as a location.
